Car refinance question..please help!?

  • Posted on July 11, 2011 at 2:25 am

I got myself a little in over my head. I was making really good money at a company i worked for, for five years. I got a new car, and my interest is really high. I got laid off, and had to accept a job making a lot less money. I have Americredit, which i wish i would have done more research on I hear so many bad things about them. I am upside down in the car like 5,000 dollars. I really want to refinance it, but is it true they will only finance what the car is worth? I wanted my dad to co sign so i can get a cheaper rate. I don’t know what other options I have but i do not want a repo. Will any companies refinance my full amount and not just what its worth? Thanks for any advice.

Refinance a car or see can I get a negotiation settlement!?

  • Posted on July 9, 2011 at 7:13 am

I owe 6,033 bucks on a 2005 ford escape. I started off with bad credit so I have a huge interest rate. The car was financed for 14,000 and if i continue to pay when I am done I would have payed 23,152 dollars for this care. I know YIKES! I am trying to see how can I get out of this. Does anyone know which would be smarted I am not sure how refinancing really works but I have also been told that some loan places will let you negotiate your pay off and just settle. Any suggestions by the way the creditor that owe is AMERICREDIT and they are known for their high interest rates.
Please no more responses by scam artist. I am not sending any money to any oh off the wall character on the internet.

How do I go about re-financing my car ~ what are some good ways?

  • Posted on July 8, 2011 at 9:36 am

Ok I’m 19 and bought a car last year. I took out a loan through Americredit in order to do so and I’m paying SOOO MUCH MONEY monthly for my car. Everyone tells me its too much. When I bought the car, the salesman told me to re-finance my payment after a couple of months and explained how. However, I being the smart girl that I am, completely forgot how to do so. Can someone explain how I go about re-financinng my car payment and good companies to go through? I think someone reccomended a Credit Union type place…. I live in NH, my payments are 303.00 and the vehicle is a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee by the way… I’m not sure if that matters.. Thanks so much! :)

How long does a finance company have to take back a vehicle after a chapter 7 bankruptcy is discharged?

  • Posted on July 7, 2011 at 12:00 pm

I had a loan with Americredit on my truck, my bankruptcy was discharged last week, and they have made no attempt to take the truck back. It is worth over 16k still, even though I paid more than I borrowed already, I still did not pay it off due to interest. I have heard of companies that never come for the vehicle after a chapter 7, but they were worth significantly less. How long do they have to ask for the truck back if they are going to take it. And do I still have to have it fully insured in the meantime?

Debt Settlement Help, Car Repo?

Well basically, let me give you the back ground. I actually know what comes next, and I know the process, but I would like to hear from all of you, just for feedback, and to make sure I’m not missing anything.

So I financed a car through AmeriCredit, a junk sub-prime lender. Yes, Yes, it’s my own fault, I signed the contract, and dug my own hole. Anyways, I financed about ,000; that is after putting down ,900. The APR was 19.99. Now I have been making payments every month, on time for the last 2 and half years. Since July of 2006. My last payment to them was in Janurary 2010. I have been paying about 5 a month. I have paid well over ,000. Now, my wife just had a baby, and due to medical reasons, she can not work.

So I called them up, and told them that I am unable to pay this high amount. They did not do refinances. . and no other company would touch it because I just owed way too much, more than the car was worth. Mind you, it was a Chrysler and they went out of business. So my only option was to surrender the car. Hell, I even dropped it off at the repo place; I’m such a nice guy.

Now I get my bill, the amount is over ,000. This is fees, and interest, and what not. HaHa, I am not paying that crap. A judge is going to have to force me to pay, that is the only way they will see a dime. But they didn’t even auction the car yet. And they are telling me to pay in full.

Now here is something some may want to answer. What are my rights during a repo. For example, doesnt the company have to tell me when and where they are going to auction the car off? Isnt that the law. They did say in the last letter with the bill, to call this phone number for information about this repossession. Is that suffient enough? I live in WA, and not sure where the company is based out of.

Another question, What is the chances that they take me to court, and a judge forces me to pay 000 for a car that I don’t even own anymore. O. . . and will they sieze my money in my bank accounts, or will I get advance notice of that.

For the people that read this, and responded,. . thank you. I love Yahoo Answers and appreciate all that help out.

All comments and advice is welcomed.

Charged off auto loan?

  • Posted on July 5, 2011 at 9:41 am

I was given till Janu 31 to pay off my truck i owed 00. I called and paid them on the 31st by western union and they said i got charged off on Jan 30. Me and my husband told them no we just spoke to someone 2 days ago confirming we had till the 31st. So when i called with wu info the man from americredit said ok you are fine you paid on time don’t worry. But our creidt report has the charge off on it. but it is paid. So I am not understanding how it can get charged off and paid off in less than 24 hours with the notes on the account saying we will pay on the 31st. How will this hurt our credit?

I am currently in a loan with Americredit which I have been past due on a few payments and they tacked on lots of fees and finance charges and I have had it since 07 and it is now 09 and should be 6,000 at least less but it’s only been credited about 2,000 because of all the fees. I have tried refinancing and I’m not able to do that and also loan negoiating with them but they will not help at all. Now I am currently looking for a new car to start all over because I feel like I am going crazy. Any advice? And cosigning is out of the question or to try to get a new loan. So any advice.
