Are you ready to be raped by congress?

  • Posted on September 3, 2011 at 9:37 am

Does anyone want to volunteer to pay ,000 extra in taxes this year?
Whether you be poor, rich, or even middle class, cap on trade is here. Amazingly enough most people do not know about it or do not fully understand what it will do for them. The basic idea is that the Federal Government will create a figure that it thinks is an appropriate amount of carbon emissions. It will then create a hefty tax for any additional carbon emissions.

So what are the results?

Coal, natural gas, and anything that emits "greenhouse" gases will be taxed. This is not only going to effect your electricity costs. Corporation use gasoline and energy to produce everything from tampons to food. There will even be a tax associated with tilling a field because of the carbon the soil will release.

Inevitably corporations will transfer the tax onto the consumer. If you don’t believe that to be true, listen here to our genius of a President openly discuss that fact:

http://hotair.com/archives/2008/11/02/ob…

We are not talking about a few buck here. We are talking about trillions of dollars that our liberal, progressive, moronic government wants to spend in order to fix a problem that is not even scientific fact. There are numerous problems with Gore’s assertion and also with the ways we are trying to rectify the energy crisis.

Whether you are liberal or conservative, no matter what you believe, exposing yourself to opinions that are in contradiction with your own is not a bad thing. It ensures not only that you will be educated enough to comment on something, it also ensures that you understand the entirety of the issue you are discussing. Because of this I would ask anyone that wishes to respond to this discussion to at least read a few pages of the following link to see what many scientists are saying about our government’s new policies and ideas about anthropogenic warming:

http://epw.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?F…

In an hour or so your congress will put to vote a bill that will cost every American thousands of dollars each year. If you think for a second that you will be okay because you are poor you are sadly mistaken. I currently make 35-40,000 dollars a year. I own a 1500 square foot house that was built 70+ years ago. Because of this my house is under-insulated. If I were wealthy and this bill passed, I would buy solar panels and switch to geothermal heating. Unfortunately because I am merely middle class, I will not be able to afford the immense increase in my taxes, food costs, transportation cost, etc, that will be inevitable if this bill passes.

So what I ask is this: can anyone honestly say that they believe this to be the correct course of action. While you are being bombarded with Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett stories, you congress is about to pass a bill that will put an IMMENSE financial strain on families that are already struggling. I am asking that no matter what your beliefs that you take a few moments to look at these two links. If you are one of those people that has an opinion that is based on little more than what you have been taught via unqualified public school teachers, or by our politicians, or by the media, please, take a few moments to look at those links and share your opinion about what is about to happen.

Here is a phone number that will allow you to contact your congress person’s office. This is URGENT. This bill goes to vote in a matter of minutes. Good luck getting through.

The following link will allow you to contact your local reps via online form. This is probably the best method as the phone lines are swamped with angry voters:

http://www.congress.org/congressorg/home…

Enter your zip at the right of the page, click on the representatives name, and then click on online contact form.

* 30 minutes ago
* – 4 days left to answer.

Additional Details
I’m willing to bet none of you even bothered looking at the links. That’s because what you are spewing is "meaningless political jargon"

Are we becoming a "A Country of Serfs Ruled By Oligarchs"?

  • Posted on September 2, 2011 at 7:10 am

Is an economy based on credit, debt, and so called free trade a sustainable one? Have we been sold out by the Oligarchs: A member of an oligarchy, someone who is part of a small group that runs a country (In this case, political and business interests alike.)

(my ramblings may make more sense if you read the article)http://www.creators.com/opinion/paul-craig-roberts/a-country-of-serfs-ruled-by-oligarchs.html

A few things jumped out at me:

"The problems of the American economy are too great to be reached by traditional policies." – Now that’s a scary thought. The big government types could have a ball with that couldn’t they?

"It is a different situation today. Layoffs result from the jobs being moved offshore and from corporations replacing their domestic work forces with foreigners brought in on H-1B, L-1 and other work visas. The U.S. labor force is being separated from the incomes associated with the goods and services that it consumes. With the rise of offshoring, layoffs are not only due to restrictive monetary policy and inventory buildup. They are also the result of the substitution of cheaper foreign labor for U.S. labor by American corporations. Americans cannot be called back to work to jobs that have been moved abroad. In the New Economy, layoffs can continue despite low interest rates and government stimulus programs." – So how would YOU go about bringing these jobs back to US?

"Without growth in consumer incomes, the economy can go nowhere. Washington policymakers substituted debt growth for income growth." – Can we have a healthy economy based on debt?

So where do we go from here? The author, much like Pat Buchannan, is an expert at explaining where we are and what the problem is. I’ve seen a LOT of doom and gloom lately but few solutions. How do you respond to some of the points made by the author?

Can any country without a strong manufacturing base truly be independent and can it survive in the long run?

has television truly lost it's "spark"?

  • Posted on August 30, 2011 at 2:22 pm

bear with me, but with most of what corporate america shovels out for the consumer america, do you really think that television still has it’s great power as it did 40 years ago as opposed to today? i find most of the shows they have on tv, especially most reality shows, quite irritable and lifeless. it’s almost like digging into american lives by asking american lives to come out and play. to sell people out? i honestly don’t know if this is just how america lives it’s regularly assigned social culture thing or whatever… my opinion is television is being thrown to drooling foaming-at-the-mouth trendsetters that don’t know any better than that reality has much more to offer than simplicity. whatever happened to the complex things?!?

what’s your opinion?

Gas Prices?

  • Posted on August 29, 2011 at 2:23 pm

Ok i was thinking… if the american people would instead of not buying gas on a monday or any other day like so many people have been trying to put into play, why dont we just boycott one gas company? this way we still get our gas whenever we want, but the one company we boycott will not sell any gas. And if that company doesn’t sell gas they will be forced to lower prices. Then after that one company is forced to lower prices the other gas companies will have to follow suit, because they will begin to lose the consumer to the company we are going to boycott. If this makes sense to anyone else please let me know. Then Give me your opinion. I am going to Pick SHELL as my company to boycott who’s with me

to adriaclay 81 that listed below… The oil companies always say production is down, if you haven’t noticed. Maybe its because if " production is up" they cant charge .00+ per gallon. I mean someone has to pay the ceo 180 million in retiremnt right.
And the demand auguement, demand doesn’t change in 3 days, right? then why do gas companies raise the price everyday for three days in a row?
and the inflation auguement, with inflation, we should see a higher income to combat the inflation. My income doesn’t change every week like gas prices.

Is this organization qualified to be criticizing Michelle Obama's anti-obesity work?

  • Posted on August 25, 2011 at 7:15 pm

Over the past several months, there’s been a small chorus of conservative voices criticizing Michelle Obama for her efforts to persuade American children to eat a more nutritious diet, mostly to combat the national epidemic of childhood obesity.

One of the organizations that has spearheaded the campaign against Mrs. Obama’s nutrition efforts is known as the Center for Consumer Freedom, or CCF.

Do you think the CCF is well qualified to say what the First Lady should or shouldn’t be saying about childhood obesity and childhood nutrition?

The group Sourcewatch has looked into the CCF’s ties to the meat industry, the soft drinks industry, the alcoholic beverages industry and the tobacco industry, and here are some of the industry officials that Sourcewatch has identified as serving on the CCF advisory board:

Dave Albright – National Steak & Poultry
Jane Innes – Perkins Family Restaurants, L.P.
Steve Bartlett – Meridian Products Corporation
Robert Basham – Outback Steakhouse, Inc.
John F. Berglund – Minnesota Licensed Beverage Association
Lou Chatey – Sebastiani Vineyards
H.A. "Andy" Divine – University of Denver
Timothy J. Doke – Brinker International, Inc.
Richard Fisher – Tetley USA, Inc.
William L. Hyde, Jr. – Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse
James Spector – Philip Morris, USA
Michael Middleton – Cargill Processed Meat Products
Daniel J. Popeo – Washington Legal Foundation
Richard G. Scalise – Armour Swift-Eckrich
Daniel Timm – the Bruss Company
Carl Vogt, Fulbright & Jaworski
Richard Walsh – Darden Restaurants, Inc.
Terry Wheatley – Sutter Home Winery

Again according to Sourcewatch,

" Contributors to CCF have included the Coca-Cola Company, Cargill, Inc., Monsanto, Tyson Foods, Outback Steakhouse, Wendy’s, Brinker International and Dean Foods. "
